About US
PVFA was founded in the summer of 2003. Having taught fencing at various locations in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut, it became increasingly apparent that a centralized location devoted solely to fencing was needed. Thus PVFA was born. Since then the club has grown and moved to 94 Cottage St. in Easthampton. This current location offers plenty of room for group classes, electric fencing, and general exercise. PVFA now celebrates over 8 years of stabbing our friends (and getting away with it) and our little club is starting to rack up a list of impressive accomplishments. Our fencers have competed in 12 states at competitions ranging from small local events to national championships. We have had a student medal at North America Cups. We have trained and certified several of our fencers as coaches and have hosted an official USFCA coaching clinic. We've helped students get into college and have had a student earn a college fencing scholarship. PVFA offers classes for Girl Scouts so they can earn their Fencing Interest Project patch. PVFA has made donations to the Emily Williston Memorial Library of Easthampton, the East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund, Rainbow Rescues (an animal foster care organization), the Arcadia Nature Nursery School, and was a sponsor for Team Second Chance which raised money for the American Diabetes Association. PVFA was also an underwriter for WFCR, the local National Public Radio station. PVFA has provided swords and has aided in fight choreography for Somers High School and their production of "Peter Pan" as well as Hampshire Regional High School's "Treasure Island." Over the years we've enjoyed visits from fencers from France, Egypt, and England.
