Historical fencing classes are open to beginners as well as experienced fencers on Mondays.
Teen and Adult Historical Fencing- Arrive between 6 and 6:30pm. Class is from 6:30 pm till 8pm. The first half hour is physical training which is followed by instruction in the use of western martial arts weapons like the baton, longsword, and rapier by Ken Mondschein, author of several historical swordsmanship books and Ph.D. in Medieval History. This class is available to beginners as well as experienced fencers. No special equipment necessary for first few lessons, but students should eventually purchase special protective equipment. There is a list of recommended equipment here. With permission of the instructor, teenagers ages 16+ may be allowed to take the class so long as a parent remains present in the club during class. Students ages 13 to 15 may participate only if they are partnered with a parent in the class.
Note that attendance in this class does require PVFA membership at the $100 a month rate. Historical fencers, like all PVFA fencers, may attend multiple sessions each week and are encouraged to also fence foil, epee, and/or saber. Historical fencers who also fence foil/epee/or saber may also sign up for one private lesson a week for $150 a month or two lessons a week for $200.

Dueling Service: Individual lessons given to two customers (friends/family) in the same evening followed by a duel with epees or sabers. The winner receives a special certificate. Available by appointment only during normal open hours. The fee for this special service is $75.
