- Here's how you can get started right away:

Step 1
For ages 11-adult, go to the online store and buy either "Just one Class" or "Membership with Lessons."

For students between ages 7-10 purchase the "Just one Class" or "Youth Fencing Class."  (You can also pay with a check or cash at PVFA. )
You may also want to try one of our Spring, summer, or winter clinics.

Step 2 (optional but recommended)
Purchase a copy of A Basic Fencing Companion which is an inexpensive fencing textbook that is used by Vassar and Temple University, and was written by PVFA's head coach.

Step 3
For ages 7-10, come to PVFA between 2 and 2:15 on a Saturday afternoon for our Youth Class.

For ages 11-adult, come to PVFA between 6pm and 6:30pm on a Tuesday,  Wednesday, or Thursday or between 3 and 3:30 on a Saturday afternoon for your first lesson/class.  Be sure to
bring sneakers, long athletic pants, t-shirt, and a water bottle. Boys and men should also bring a protective cup. (Instruction may be through individual lessons or in small groups.)

For ages 18+ you also have the option of Monday nights for Historical Fencing.

Step 4
Come as often as you can, and have fun! Beginners ages 11-adult are welcome up to five days a week!
We welcome beginners to come as often as they can so they can get to know everyone and start fencing right away.  We will pair you up with coaches and other fencers to teach you the skills you'll need to feel confident and have fun from the very start.

To save some time, please print and fill out the following forms and bring them with you for your first session. We also have forms at PVFA if you do not have access to a printer.
